What types of experiments and activities can I expect?
All experiments and activities are interactive and designed for preschool aged children. There is a new theme each week.
A variety of activities are offered each week ensuring engagement with a wide range of STEM-based concepts over a 10-week term.
My child doesn’t seem that interested in science or STEM. Will they like Curious Cubs?
Most young children don’t know what STEM is but they are naturally curious about their world. They know fun when they see, feel or hear it! If your child likes to play, explore, build and discover they will love Curious Cubs as it introduces STEM-based concepts in a playful way.
I didn’t enjoy science as a child and I’m not confident exploring/discussing it with my child.
Curious Cubs provides a fun and welcoming environment in which to play, build, explore and discover with your child. A key aim is to build parents’ confidence to support and foster their child's natural interest in STEM. We will provide you with support, ideas and inspiration each week.
“Sciencey” stuff can be fun for everyone but sometimes you just need the right person to show you how to turn “Why?” into “WOW!” Curious Cubs is not about “teaching”, it’s about asking questions and trying to find answers through play and exploration. We adopt an inquiry-based model of learning.
Can younger siblings (0-2yrs) attend?
Curious Cubs’ activities have been specifically developed for children aged 3-5 yrs to experience with an accompanying adult. Concepts, materials and equipment may not be suitable (and may be unsafe) for younger children.
If possible, we recommend making alternate arrangements for the care of younger siblings (0-2yrs). This maximises engagement and minimises distraction for your child, yourself and other participants. If you are unable to make alternate arrangements, siblings aged 0-2yrs are very welcome to attend but must be supervised at all times.
Are ‘make-up’ sessions offered?
We understand young children and the challenges of family life. We recognise that on occasion you may be unable to attend your weekly session. Make-up sessions are dependent on availability and can be arranged by contacting us via phone or email in advance of your normal scheduled session.
Can I enrol my child mid-term?
Yes, you can enrol any time during the term provided places are available. Cost is pro-rata based on the number of weeks remaining in the term. To request a mid-term enrolment please email email@example.com and advise your preferred session day(s), time(s) and desired start date. We will contact you to advise availability.
